GRAMMAR (I was yelling)
We had great discussion today on the concept of grammar as we see it and teach it today. We came to a pretty strong consensus that grammar is viewed by many as the most important graded end-state of writing. We disagree.
Whether or not it's a true story I don't know, but supposedly when Winston Churchill was a young newspaper reporter an editor told him that he could not end a sentence with a preposition. Churchill supposedly replied, "This is the sort of arrant nonsense up with which I will not put."

Too bad "ugh" isn't a preposition.
