Don, have you ever thought of the word knowledge by using the following analogy: Know - Ledge In my mind I think of know-ledge as the cliff (ledge) that is safe at the top on the solid ground unless we take that one more step to explore the area (see the sight, see who is walking on the path below, check out a noise heard, etc.) We'll know more if we walk off the ledge...
Also, I tell my students that revision is to see it again and we discuss prefixes at the same time! I use myself as an example and take off my glasses and let them hear my verbal descriptions of the different shades and figures in the classroom.
I am refining a strategy called Binocular that I am going to try next year to help with revision. Use binoculars to look again more closely and bring into focus...I would love to kick it around with others to fine tune it.
