personal narratives

The more I hear of others' stories, the more I'm convinced that everybody has a story to tell and that they are all interesting! How some have overcome the obstacles that have been placed in their lives leaves me in awe of them.

  1. I agree. Who we are is more than just what you see or hear. We all have history and when you get to know everyone's story, it helps us to understand and accept them. I love this activity.

  2. I wished I had written down the stories my grandfather told in his final years. My cousins and I thought most were greatly embellished or pure fiction. One day I was reading a newspaper article about this man who created replica sternwheelers out of recycled materials. Much to my surprise it was my grandfather they were writing about! Glenville, WV's historical society had a display at the museum with his creations and stories about early travel on the Little Kanawha. I have some of those boats he made. One I carried to AZ and back. I learned more amazing things about this man after his death. Truly sad.
